Kiss of the Blade is an online, forum-based, role playing game based on feudal Japan and the samurai, fused with fantasy themes.
The story, however, does not take place in Japan. It takes place on a fictional island called Sake-To.
Information on Sake-To:
Sake-To is a small island in the middle of a vast ocean. The
inhabitants of Sake-To consist of three main races: Humans, Piks, and Tronks.
Sake-To is divided into different territories and regions, all controlled by different clans and governments.
Clans
Szano Clan-
Race: Tronk
Territory: Tronk mountains, West River Valley, Northern Shield Mountains, Mountain Valley, and the East River Valley
The Szano clan is the strongest clan in all of Sake-To. It is lead by a fearless Warrior King, Tomar the Fierce. They have gained renown by all of Sake-To due to their large army and good military tactics.
Uh-Tzo Clan-
Race: Tronk
Territory: Interior Plains
The Uh-Tzo clan is a direct contender for the title of strongest clan. They are led by the Warrior King, Ranel-So. They control the entirety of the Interior Plains, one of the largest regions of Sake-To. They have large wealth, since they are in the middle of the island, and control almost all trade routes.
Kame-Tao Clan-
Race: Human
Territory: None
The Kame-Tao clan is a very secret clan. Little is known about them, and none are even sure that the clan actually exists. What is known is that they are a clan of mercenaries. The clan has been said to have around 5,000 strong warriors. The other clans hire out assassins and soldiers from the Kame-Tao. There is no known person who leads the clan. The clan lives in secret dojos around the island, hidden from those by whom they do not wish to be found.
Song Clan-
Race: Human
Territory: Sora-Tan, Zulao, Ramek
The Song Clan is a clan of traders. They are led by a Trader King, Ras. The clan consists of traders and warriors. The warriors protect the traders, and help control the freelance traders that use the clan's ports and trading cities. The Song clan takes a 20% tax for all trades, or else accepts a fee of 500 gold coins from each trader for a trading pass.
Yu-Li-Za Clan-
Race: Piks
Territory: Southern Mountains
Not much is known about the Yu-Li-Za clan. In fact, barely anyone knows that they actually exist. The Yu-Li-Za clan consists of every Pik in all of Sake-To. The Piks like to stick together, due to their small stature. They hide from the other clans of the island, trying to stay invisible. However, as more and more armies start to claim land in the Southern Mountains, the Piks are forced to defend their homeland more than ever. They are led by a council of elders, elected every fifty years. The elders, once elected, are stripped of names, so that they cannot be identified and assassinated. It is a pointless tradition, but a tradition nonetheless.
Information on the Races
Humans
Humans are exactly as we would picture them. They are human. They are in a struggle for power with the Tronks. They think that they are superior to all other forms of life. In Sake-To, humans normally take jobs as merchants and crafters. They make up about 40% of the population of Sake-To.
Tronks
Tronks are mean, strong, stupid, and large. They, like the humans, believe that they are superior to all other races. The average height of a Tronk is 6'7''. Each Tronk has either green or blue skin, depending on what region they hail from. Most Tronks in the North have Blue Skin, and Tronks from the South have greener skin. The Tronks rely on clans more than humans to classify themselves. Most work as a soldier in a clan. Those who cannot make it as a soldier become merchants, and those without the intelligence for running a business (as most Tronks do), are killed. The Tronks have no place for useless members of society. Tronks make up about 30% of the population.
Piks
Piks are tiny things. They are barely noticeable. The Piks stay together, since the only strength they can manage is through numbers. The Piks, however, have one advantage. They have magic blood flowing through their veins. They can create illusions, start fires, freeze water, and even kill a full-grown Tronk with the snap of their fingers.
Society Structure
Within normal society, people are classed as following:
Lords
Samurai
Soldiers
Merchants
Workers
Peasants
Slaves
Feel free to change this within each individual clan, if you are a clan leader. Those are only guidelines, not strict rules.
